Submissions are closed for the 2026 program, please follow the instructions below to submit your film for our 2027 program.

Submissions open: 15 Aug – 30 Sept 2026

Submissions close: 15 Oct 2026

Authorized use of screeners & Format

All films must be submitted with a screening link & be password-protected, or watermarked. We prefer Vimeo links or similar protected formats that can be shared with our Film Committee

Eligibility

All films (incl features, short films and documentaries) must reflect the South African people, their stories, &/or their culture and art.

Selection

• Any film submitted to SAFF can be used in any exhibition format that pertains to the festival,
  both in-cinema and online, geo-blocked for AUS and NZ
• First round official SAFF film committee screenings during Oct 2026, and second round in Nov 2026
• Official program selection completed by mid-Jan 2027
• Successful filmmakers will receive a confirmation email with a Jot Form to complete and upload film & publicity materials.
• Film submission form to be completed no later than 31 Feb 2027
