Margarine

Margarine tells the story of 13-year-old Robert, who leaves an abusive family to live on the streets, where he becomes a violent gangster. He falls in love with Margarine, an innocent schoolgirl, allowing him to feel tenderness and hope for the first time in his troubled life. “Meeting this girl is the rebirth of my heart.” But will the damage done by his trauma and abandonment ever be healed? Written and directed by Thabo Khambule, Margarine won the best international film and director awards at the 2022 Idyllwild International Festival of cinema in California.
